Fall Foliage Tour/Lobster Fest - Oct 16-18 - Relax and experience spectacular Maine at the height of fall spendor.

Sat Oct 16 Travel to York, Maine where you’ll watch the manufacturing of Maine jams and jellies at the Stonewall Kitchen Factory in York. Stop for a photo of Maine’s southernmost lighthouse, the Nubble Light in Cape Neddick. Stretch your legs and take in the picturesque view and salt air. From Nubble Light you will also spot the infamous Boon Island Lighthouse, located just offshore. Travel to Ogunquit, Maine, which means “beautiful place by the sea.” Check in to your South Coast hotel for a two-night stay. Enjoy a wine and cheese welcome reception upon arrival at the Meadowmere Resort, which features indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center and a private movie theater. The resort is located a half mile from Ogunquit Village and the scenic cove area. Dinner included this evening at a popular Ogunquit restaurant.

Sun Oct 17 A deluxe continental breakfast is included this morning at the resort. Then travel to Perkins Cove for a unique lobster boat cruise. You’ll learn how the Maine lobstermen make their living on this one hour cruise. Visit the world’s largest lighthouse gift store, the Lighthouse Depot. Lunch is on your own in Kennebunkport. Motor coach parking is included near Dock Square. Meet your local guide in Kennebunkport for a guided tour of this former shipbuilding town. View the sandy beaches, rocky coastline, Dock Square, the ornate “Wedding Cake House,” former President Bush’s summer estate and the seaside Franciscan Monastery. This afternoon take a ride into yesteryear and discover the heritage of America's Grand Trolley era at the Seashore Trolley Museum. You'll take a scenic ride through the Maine countryside at the height of the fall foliage season on a restored streetcar. Your guide will then take you through the impressive exhibit barn with trolleys from the National Collection of American Streetcars where you’ll learn where they operated and how they were restored. Don your souvenir Maine lobster hat this evening at an authentic downeast lobster bake dinner. You’ll feast on your choice of Maine boiled lobster or barbecued chicken, plus chowder, cultivated mussels, corn on the cob, Maine potatoes and blueberry crumb cake. Sing-along entertainment is included.

Mon Oct 18 A deluxe continental breakfast is included this morning. Travel to Portland, Maine. Meet your local guide for a narrated tour of Portland - Maine’s largest city-by-the-sea. You’ll see views of Longfellow’s boyhood home, sea captain houses and the elegant Victoria Mansion as you drive through historic neighborhoods overlooking the islands of Casco Bay in Portland Harbor. Your tour includes a stop at Portland Head Light. This historic landmark is the most photographed lighthouse in America, set in Fort Williams Park with crashing surf, a beach, and an old fort. Tour ends at 11 AM. Enjoy browsing and lunch on your own Portland’s historic waterfront district or on your way home.

Grand Illumination - Williamsburg - Dec 4-6 - Colonial Williamsburg's Christmas season officially begins with Grand Illumination, a spectacular evening when candles twinkle in the windows of Historic Area homes and buildings, fatwood crackles in street-side cressets, and the heavens explode with pyrotechnics. Treat yourself to a unique holiday tradition. This fantastic trip sold out last year, so make your reservations early.

Saturday Dec 4 -
7 AM - Depart for Williamsburg from First State Plaza McDonald's.
1 PM - Arrive at the starting point (College of William and Mary) to meet our escort from Colonial Connections. (Enjoy lunch in Merchant's Square on your own prior to meeting the escort.)
1-4 PM -Guided tour of Colonial Williamsburg (focusing on the holiday decorations and traditions) including the Governors Palace, America's largest living history museum.
4:30 PM - Check into the Fairfield Inn and Suites (baggage handlng included). The hotel has indoor corridors and indoor swimming pool.
6 PM - Dinner at The Whaling Company restaurant. Menu: Crisp garden salad with house dressing, choice of filet mignon or charbroiled lemon herb chicken with vegetable du jour, redskin potatoes, fresh baked rolls and butter, chef's special dessert, coffee or tea.
8 PM - Celebration in Lights - a two-mile driving tour of spectacular animated scenes. View whimsical toys, elegant swans, leaping reindeer, multicolored snowflakes and scenes from Virginia's past, portrayed in a kaleidoscope of dazzling color.

Sunday Dec 5 -
Start your day with continental breakfast provided at the hotel.
9 AM-noon - Guided tour of Jamestown Settlement. This interactive living history museum commemorates America's first permanent English Colony established 13 years before Plymouth Rock. Replicas of the three sailing ships that carried Captain John Smith and 103 other Englishmen here in 1607 are ready to board in Virginia's James RIver.
After touring, enjoy lunch on your own at the Jamestown Settlement Cafe.
1 PM - Return to hotel to relax before Grand Illumination or shop at the Yankee Candle Factory.
4:30 PM - The Grand Illumination is an adaptation of a common practice during the 18th century when ordinary citizens celebrated extraordinary events: major military victories, the arrival of a new colonial govenor or a birthday of the monach by firing guns and fireworks. The festivities begin with a variety of traditional holiday entertainment. Fifes and drums provide 18th century holiday music, balladeers and musicians perform, church choirs sing and customed performers present entertainment found in Williamsburg 200 years ago.
6:15 PM - Fireworks! A magnificent fireworks display will take place simultaneously at three locations in the Historic Area, near the Governors Palace, the Magazine and the Capitol. Hundreds of candles are then lit in the public buildings, shops and homes throughout Williamsburg.
8 PM - Dinner at Captain George's. Featuring a 70 item all-you-can-eat seafood buffet including Alaskan Snow Crab legs, steamed shrimp, Oysters Rockefeller, scallops, prime rib, and fresh broiled fish, along with a wide array of salads, entrees and desserts prepared fresh daily.

Monday Dec 6 -
Start your day with continental breakfast provided at the hotel. 9:30 AM-11:30 AM - Tour Shirley Plantation.
11:30 AM - Depart for home with boxed lunch provided en route.  Boxed lunch includes turkey and swiss cheese with lettuce and tomato on homemade multi-grain bread, redskin potato salad, cheese wafers, fruit, brownie and bottled water.
